ARE YOU PROTECTED?

Flame-resistant (FR) clothing is an essential protection measure for anyone who works on job sites or with equipment that comes with potential hazards like fire, combustion or electrical arcs. However, protection varies based on the type of clothing. The wearer must understand how the FR clothing selected, can or cannot protect them.

There are many jobs and processes which require you to wear flame resistant clothing to protect you while carrying out hazardous tasks. These come in the form of coveralls, jackets and pants that are designed for the harshest environments in a range of colors, and can either be worn all day or just when dealing with specific hazards.

Work environments that have a risk of explosions, radiant heat or hazards such as liquid, chemicals, dust or particulates are the most common situations that require a particular form of FR protective wear.  With levels of protection varying to your requirements, the garments can protect the wearer from exposure to heat, fire, chemicals, electrical arcs, molten metal splashes and welding processes.

Now, for those performing tasks in high risk industries, personal protective equipment (PPE) is their last line of defense. The use and availability of flame-resistant (FR) clothing has become much more common due to the continued development and updating of industry safety regulations and voluntary performance standards.

There are many industries that are more exposed to the risk of fires and explosions. The Oil & Gas industry is perhaps one of the most dangerous industries in any working environment. Making sure your workers are equipped with the best FR Clothing and PPE is crucial.

FR clothing should always be sourced from trusted and experienced suppliers. The best way to ensure PPE is up to standard is to invest in quality clothes from recognized and authorized manufacturers that have Quality Certification to meet the International Fire Safety Standards.

OUR EXPERTISE

Sherwood Protective Apparel is a specialist protective garment company founded in 2010 by Corporate Garment, a workwear manufacturer since 1990. Together, we have more than 30 years of experience in workwear clothing manufacturing. We are the Authorised Licensed Manufacturer of NOMEX® and PROBAN® High Performance Workwear based in Malaysia with wide distribution channels in the ASEAN region.

SHERWOOD flame-resistant (FR) clothing are specially designed garments to protect the wearer against flames and thermal injury from two specific types of hazards: flash fire and electric arc flash. The FR clothing must resists ignition and self-extinguishes once the source of the ignition is removed. The wearer can then prevent burns from both initial exposure to the flames and from residual heat transfer in the event of a flash fire.

Flame-resistant clothing is used in a large number of professions including the oil and gas, electrical utilities, fire service, research labs and defense. Workers in all of these areas often face the potential for explosions, open fires, and other thermal incidents. Therefore, we must remember that these professionals and workers performing tasks in high risk industries, the personal protective equipment (PPE) is their last line of defense.

The use and availability of FR clothing has increasingly become much more common due to the continued development and updating of industry safety regulations and voluntary performance standards.  The best way to ensure the PPE is up to standard is to invest in quality clothes from recognised and authorised manufacturers that have Quality Certification to meet the International Fire Safety Standards.
